from the collaberative journal of illustrations and haiku "March 2009 Penticton/Nelson" writing by Brefny Raney

(march first)
winter shadows still
slouch against furrowed brick wall
awaiting dawns nod.

(marchsecond)
rain cloud collections
drip tip-toe across puddles;
bitter snow weeps spring.

(march third)
stern gull glares airborne
firm wings transform mist into
precipitation.

(marchforth)
silver kettle shrieks
a brazen percolation
condemning the grinds.

(marchfifth)
beyond roof and wires
snow grazes distant tree tops
winter smirks again.

(marchsixth)
pale daylight unfurls
delicately summoning
new strength to old trees.
